Editorial Policy

YachtMetric publishes practical information about yacht ownership costs, buying decisions and marine technology. This policy explains how we source figures, present calculations, label illustrations and handle corrections.

Responsibility for articles

The YachtMetric Editorial Team byline identifies collective responsibility for researching, writing and updating an article. It does not imply that a named licensed professional reviewed every piece. Where an individual contributor or specialist review is involved, the relevant article should identify the person and their role. Our guides provide general information and do not replace a vessel-specific survey, installation design, insurance quotation or professional advice.

Sources and fact-checking

We prefer original sources for technical claims: manufacturer specifications and manuals, official guidance and published service or product information. For prices, we may use dated dealer listings and other clearly identified public offers. We link to important sources and check that the quoted figure, units, model and scope match the claim. When sources disagree or do not cover an installed price, we explain the uncertainty instead of presenting a single universal number.

Product prices and operating figures can change. Articles may show a research-check date, and readers should verify current availability, taxes, freight, installation work and local rules before acting. We do not treat an advertised equipment price as a complete installed cost unless the source explicitly includes installation.

Calculations and comparisons

Worked examples state their assumptions and show the arithmetic where practical. We distinguish illustrative scenarios from observed prices or market averages. For comparisons involving fuel, electricity, range, maintenance or payback, we identify material inputs such as usage, capacity, energy price and time period. The result for a particular yacht will depend on its equipment, condition, operating profile and location.

Advertising and images

Advertising and sponsored placements are separate from editorial decisions. Mentioning or linking to a manufacturer, seller or service provider does not imply endorsement. Conceptual diagrams should not be used as technical installation instructions.

Corrections and updates

Readers can report a factual error through our Contact page. Please include the article URL, the specific statement and supporting information where possible. We review the report against available sources, correct confirmed errors and update material information when needed. Significant corrections should be explained in the affected article rather than silently changing the meaning of a claim. Minor copy edits may be made without a separate notice.
