About
YachtMetric is an independent yachting publication about the costs and practical decisions involved in owning, buying and using a yacht. We cover ownership budgets, insurance, maintenance, fuel, yacht sizes and onboard technology. Our aim is to make complicated choices easier to compare with clear explanations, useful calculations and links to the underlying information.
Who writes YachtMetric?
Articles credited to the YachtMetric Editorial Team are prepared and maintained under that collective byline. It identifies the publication responsible for the work; it does not represent a named yacht surveyor, naval architect or financial adviser. Where a specialist or individual author contributes, we will identify that person and their role on the relevant article.
How we research costs and specifications
We start with manufacturer specifications and manuals, official guidance and published prices where available. We also use clearly identified dealer listings and other relevant sources. We link to important sources in the article so readers can check the original context. Prices can change by date, currency, region, tax, equipment package and installation scope, so a published figure is a reference point rather than a vessel-specific quote.
When we calculate running costs or payback, we state the inputs and show the arithmetic. Illustrative examples are labelled as examples; they are not market averages. We distinguish equipment prices from installed costs and note exclusions that could materially change a budget. Readers should obtain current local quotes and advice for their own vessel before making a purchase or safety decision.
Editorial independence and illustrations
Advertising is separate from editorial content. A source link or product example is included to help explain a claim, not as an endorsement.
Corrections and contact
Marine specifications, prices and rules change. We date research checks where relevant and update articles when a material fact changes or an error is confirmed. If you spot an issue, please send the article link, the passage and a source or explanation through our Contact page. Our Editorial Policy explains our sourcing and correction process in more detail.
